Asset Quality of the Credit Departments of Farmers' and Fishermen's Associations

The Bureau of Agricultural Finance, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan (the BOAF) has released that total outstanding loans extended by the current 311 Credit Departments of Farmers' and Fishermen's Associations increased by NT$3.9 billion (US$0.13 billion) as compared to the number of previous month and amounted to NT$1,072 billion (US$36.78 billion) at the end of Jan. 2018. Meanwhile, the NPLs of these credit departments totaled at NT$5 billion (US$0.17 billion) which increased by NT$0.2 billion (US$0.01 billion) from NT$4.8 billion (US$0.16 billion) at the end of the previous month. The average NPL ratio of these credit departments increased by 0.01 percentage points and therefore rose to a figure of 0.46% from 0.45% of the previous month.The coverage ratios of allowances for NPLs decrease by 15.6 percentage points and therefore fell to a figure of 662.94% from 678.54% of the previous month.
The BOAF will request those credit departments with higher NPL ratios to undertake measures to improve asset quality and financial structure on an ongoing basis.
