The Bureau of Agricultural Finance, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan (the BOAF) has released that total outstanding loans extended by the current 311 Credit Departments of Farmers' and Fishermen's Associations increased by NT$0.6 billion (US$0.0198 billion) from NT$1,173 billion (US$38.78 billion) of the previous month and amounted to NT$1,174billion (US$38.81 billion) at the end of Jan. 2020. Meanwhile, the NPLs of these credit departments totaled at NT$5.101 billion (US$0.169 billion) which increased by NT$ 0.057 billion (US$0.002 billion) from NT$5.044 billion (US$0.167billion) at the end of the previous month. The average NPL ratio of these credit departments kept flat at 0.43% , compared to that at the end of previous month.
Of the 311 credit departments , 260 had non-performing loan ratios of less than 1%, of which 49 had non-performing loan ratios of 0%, indicating that loan quality was quite high. The coverage ratios of allowances for NPLs decreased by 7.94 percentage points and therefore fell to a figure of 719.84% from 727.78% of the previous year.
According to the above figures as of the end of Jan. 2020, the operational structure of credit departments has significantly improved. The BOAF will continue to maintain a firm grasp of the operational situation at credit departments, and will strengthen oversight and guidance work to continue to assist credit departments to ensure sound operations, and to maintain the stable development of agricultural finance.
