The Bureau of Agricultural Finance, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan (the BOAF) has released that total outstanding loans extended by the current 311 Credit Departments of Farmers' and Fishermen's Associations increased by NT$48 billion (US$1.68 billion) from NT$1,173 billion (US$41.15 billion) of the previous year and amounted to NT$1,221 billion (US$42.83 billion) at the end of 2020. Meanwhile, the NPLs of these credit departments totaled at NT$4.651 billion (US$0.163 billion) which decreased by NT$ 0.393 billion (US$0.014 billion) from NT$5.044 billion (US$0.177billion) at the end of the previous year. The average NPL ratio of these credit departments decreased by 0.05 percentage points and therefore fell to a figure of 0.38% from 0.43% of the previous year.

Of the 311 credit departments , 261 had non-performing loan ratios of less than 1%, of which 49 had non-performing loan ratios of 0%, indicating that loan quality was quite high. The coverage ratios of allowances for NPLs increased by 106.34 percentage points and therefore rose to a figure of 834.12% from 727.78% of the previous year.
To promote the popularity of financial services and provide the financial service needs of farmers and fishermen, the BOAF amended "Regulations Governing Business of the Credit Department of Farmers' and Fishermen's Associations" on Article 5-1, 6 and 6-1. The amendment of relax restrictions that allow the Credit Department of Farmers' and Fishermen's Associations to apply operational centers addition in May and November each year.In 2020,the BOAF approved application of Daqiao branch of Yongkang Farmer Association, Fengzhou and Shekou branch of Shengang Farmer Association. As of the end of 2020, 1,164 operational centers of 311 credit departments of Farmers' and Fishermen's Associations.
According to the above figures as of the end of 2020, the operational structure of credit departments has significantly improved. The BOAF will continue to maintain a firm grasp of the operational situation at credit departments, and will strengthen oversight and guidance work to continue to assist credit departments to ensure sound operations, and to maintain the stable development of agricultural finance.
