Asset Quality of the Credit Departments of Farmers' and Fishermen's Associations as of the End of April 2023

The Bureau of Agricultural Finance, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan (the BOAF) has released that total deposits extended by the current 311 Credit Departments of Farmers' and Fishermen's Associations increased by NT$ 6.7 billion (US$0.218 billion) from NT$2,200.9 billion (US$71.597 billion) of the previous month and amounted to NT$2,207.6 billion (US$71.815 billion). Total outstanding loans increased by NT$3 billion (US$0.098 billion) from NT$1,325.1 billion (US$43.106 billion) of the previous month and amounted to NT$1,328.1 billion (US$43.204 billion) at the end of Apr. 2023. Meanwhile, the NPLs of these credit departments totaled at NT$3.442 billion (US$0.112 billion) which increased by NT$ 0.032 billion (US$0.001 billion) from NT$3.41 billion (US$0.111 billion) at the end of the previous month. The average NPL ratio of these credit departments kept flat at 0.26%, and was down by 0.04 percentage points compared to the same month last year.
Of the 311 credit departments , 276 NPL ratio of less than 1%, of which 48 had NPL ratio of 0%, indicating that loan quality was quite high. The coverage ratios of allowances for NPLs decreased by 9.41 percentage points and therefore fell to a figure of 1,306.07% from 1,315.48% of the previous month.
The BOAF will continue to maintain a firm grasp of the operational situation at credit departments, and will strengthen oversight and guidance work to continue to assist credit departments to ensure sound operations, and to maintain the stable development of agricultural finance.
