Asset Quality of the Credit Departments of Farmers' and Fishermen's Associations

The Bureau of Agricultural Finance, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan (the BOAF) has released that total outstanding loans extended by the current 311 Credit Departments of Farmers' and Fishermen's Associations increased by NT$1.5 billion (US$0.049 billion) from NT$1,199.7billion (US$40.63 billion) of the previous month and amounted to NT$1,201.2 billion (US$40.68billion) at the end of Aug. 2020. Meanwhile, the NPLs of these credit departments totaled at NT$5.251 billion (US$0.178 billion) which decreased by NT$ 0.159billion (US$0.005 billion) from NT$5.410 billion (US$0.183 billion) at the end of the previous month. The average NPL ratio of these credit departments decreased by 0.01 percentage points and therefore fell to a figure of 0.44% from 0.45% of the previous month.
Of the 311 credit departments , 258 had non-performing loan ratios of less than 1%, of which 39 had non-performing loan ratios of 0%, indicating that loan quality was quite high. The coverage ratios of allowances for NPLs increased by 22.27 percentage points and therefore rose to a figure of 706.47% from 684.20% of the previous month.
The BOAF will continue to maintain a firm grasp of the operational situation at credit departments, and will strengthen oversight and guidance work to continue to assist credit departments to ensure sound operations, and to maintain the stable development of agricultural finance.
